Spaghetti Dinner

Please plan ahead & mark the date of our 2nd Annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraising event scheduled for Friday, May 6th.

VERY SOON, every athlete on the team roster will be issued 5 tickets to SELL. Each ticket cost $6 and includes dinner & a soda (or water).

The deadline for selling the tickets and turning in the money is Thursday, April 21st. This is the last day of school prior to Spring Break. However, to expedite the sale & receipt of the funds, an incentive will be provided to the athletes. The first 50 who sell their 5 tickets & return their envelope with $30 will receive a WHS beanie.

Please be on the look out for the "ticket envelope" and sell, sell, sell!

Fundraising

I am sure that it will not come as a surprise to anyone that the WHS Track & Field team do a series of fundraisers throughout the season. Since school rules prohibit fundraising outside of our season (except for summer time), we are forced to do as much as we can in a short period of time.

Below is a list of scheduled fundraisers that I will need as much help with as possible. Please let me know how you can help.

SPECIAL NOTE: I am looking for donations for the Raffle & Silent Auction (May 6th). Start looking now, maybe you have something new at your house that you never got a chance to use. Hand crafted items are nice. Ask your employer if they will provide something. I have begun collecting donations for this purpose so please contact me as soon as you have something.

Skyline Invitational

Here is the information about the Skyline Invitational on Saturday March 5. Because we do not have the funds, and the school district does not provide a bus, it is the responsibility of the athletes to get there. If you do not have a ride, Coach Ben will make arrangements. Not having a ride will never be an issue.

The first running event will begin precisely 9:30am. The first field event will begin precisely at 8:00am. All events will start with the girls and followed by the boys. The field events will have 3 attempts only.

Skyline Invitational

Coach Ben has passed around the sign-up sheet for the Skyline Invitational this week. If you missed it and want to sign up, you MUST contact Coach Ben no later than Friday night to add your name.

Logo Wear Delivery Date

Our order has been finalized and is in the hands of the vendor. Our goal is to receive all items in time for our first MVAL dual meet which is on Friday, March 18th. Once they have been received, they will be distributed at practice.

Announcement Highlights week ending 2/18/11

Some of the highlights from the daily announcements given by Coach Ben this week are:

* Until further notice, all athletes must wear something long sleeved and long pants (sweats) to practice

* Practice does NOT automatically get cancelled due to inclement weather. Rain or shine, we practice.

* Due date for logo wear items is extended to Tuesday, the 22nd

* Sign-up sheet for the Skyline Invitational (March 5th) will go around next week. Everyone is encouraged to participate. It is a great 1st event of the season for all, especially for Freshmen or 1st year track & field athletes.

* Grades were distributed this week. Ben will be posting his roster in the next couple weeks so if you are eligible, STAY eligible. If you are ineligible, GET eligible.

* A student's clarinet is missing from practice. If you know where it is or if you have accidentally taken it home with you, please return it.

* As soon as winter sports are finalized, practice attendance records will be kept (see prior posting on attendance requirements)
